Australian Museum
Led by a First Nations guide in Sydney’s Australian Museum, Waranara Tours invites you to expand your understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures.
“Waranara” means “to seek” in the languages of the Sydney region, and that’s just what these tours invite you to do — seek knowledge, seek truth, and seek understanding. This special 45-minute experience takes place in the Garrigarrang: Sea Country exhibition, where you’ll explore cultural objects from the museum’s extensive Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander collections.
Through storytelling and sharing, you’ll gain insight into the deep connections between people, land, and sea, and discover how these communities have thrived for tens of thousands of years. The tour is suitable for ages eight and up and runs every Wednesday and Saturday, with extra sessions during special events like NAIDOC Week.
Waranara Tours go beyond the usual museum experience, offering you a meaningful cultural exchange that encourages respect, reflection, and a deeper appreciation for the world’s oldest living cultures.
