Burrawa Aboriginal Climb Experience
Burrawa Climb is a unique Aboriginal storytelling experience located on the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge in Gadigal Country. Burrawa, a Gadigal word meaning “above” or “upwards,” invites you to ascend the bridge while gaining a deeper understanding of Sydney’s Indigenous history and culture.
Led by a First Nations storyteller, this three-hour experience follows the Summit Climb route, taking you 1,332 steps above Warrane (Sydney Harbour). Along the way, you’ll hear stories of the Gadigal people, learn the origins of place names like Barangaroo and Bennelong Point, and reflect on the lasting connection between land, language, and culture.
Your journey begins with a traditional ochre ceremony before a fully guided climb along the upper arch of the bridge. With stunning panoramic views and powerful storytelling, the Burrawa Climb offers a rare chance to see Sydney through Aboriginal eyes. Plus, when you climb with Burrawa, your ticket helps support Tribal Warrior, a not-for-profit dedicated to empowering Indigenous communities through culture and education.
