Janbal Gallery
Nestled in Mossman, Queensland, Janbal Gallery is an Aboriginal-owned art space where Kuku Yalanji culture comes alive. Founded by celebrated artist Brian ‘Binna’ Swindley, the gallery invites you not only to admire stunning artworks but to connect, create, and learn.
Binna has been painting for over 30 years, sharing his deep cultural knowledge through vibrant artworks that bring Dreamtime stories, native animals, and the breathtaking landscapes of the Wet Tropics and Great Barrier Reef to life. The gallery also showcases hand-crafted didgeridoos, jewellery, and artefacts created by Aboriginal artists from across Far North Queensland.
What truly sets Janbal apart are its interactive art workshops. You’re warmly invited to pick up a brush, learn traditional dot painting techniques, and create your very own artwork to take home. As Binna shares stories passed down through generations along the way, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the spiritual and cultural meanings behind each symbol and colour.
Janbal Gallery brings art and storytelling together in a welcoming space that invites you to experience Kuku Yalanji culture firsthand.
