Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre
Nestled between along the coast in Burleigh Heads National Park on the Gold Coast, Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre is run by the Yugambeh people. Known as Jellurgal, or Dreaming Mountain, this sacred site offers a powerful cultural experience just minutes from the city’s iconic skyline.
The centre opens a gateway to the deep spiritual and ecological connection the Yugambeh people share with this land. On the Jellurgal Walkabout, you’ll be guided along scenic coastal tracks while discovering traditional bush foods, native medicines, and the Dreaming stories that have shaped the landscape for generations. The tour also visits ancient middens and sacred sites, offering a window into thousands of years of living culture.
For a deeper connection, the Jellurgal Journey Tour begins with a traditional ochre welcome ceremony, followed by an Aboriginal dance performance and a hands-on art workshop. You’ll learn the meanings behind Indigenous symbols and create your own artwork to take home.
Explore the Yugambeh peoples' connection with waterways on the Cruise with Culture which culminates with a Yarning Circle on Wave Break Island, a sacred storytelling space where you'll have the opportunity to ask questions and learn from your Aboriginal guides.
Whether you’re strolling along the coastal headland or enjoying it from the water, Jellurgal invites you to see the Gold Coast through the eyes of its First Peoples.
