Metropolitan Golf Club
Tucked away in Melbourne’s south-east, just 15 minutes from the city centre, The Metropolitan Golf Club is a treasured part of Victoria’s iconic Sandbelt region.
Recognised around the world as one of Australia’s premier championship courses, the Metropolitan is a place where rich tradition, natural beauty, and elite golf come together.
First established in 1908, the course was shaped by engineer J.B. MacKenzie and later refined with input from legendary architect Dr Alister MacKenzie. Today, it’s known for its pristine couch grass fairways, lightning-fast bentgrass greens, and 96 strategically placed bunkers – all beautifully framed by towering native trees and vibrant red flowering gums.
The Metropolitan Golf Club has proudly hosted some of the world’s most prestigious tournaments, including seven Australian Opens, the 2001 World Match Play Championship, and the 2018 World Cup of Golf. It’s a course that challenges even the best players while warmly welcoming anyone who appreciates the finer details of the game.
